Far Cry 3 is my personal best game of the year from 2012 and in hindsight that's quite strange.
I didn't get quite my hopes up at the beginning but this game brought a lot of gameplay in the mix, and managed to tweak it just right: A sandbox-like open world to explore, beautiful graphics, a story filled with memorable characters where if you look up badass voice-over in the dictionary you'll see a picture of Vaas.
The combat itself is amazing and the gameplay easily lets you drive to your own style, be it that of a sneaky motherfucker, or a full-guns blazing Rambo.
However what's the best is that like so smany other great sandbox games (Skyrim, Fallout 3) the game is full of minor details and random occurrences that make it a much more personal game. From tigers ambushing patrolmen, to stepping in a big pile of HOLY FUCKING GOD IT'S A KOMODO!
