It's amazing how a game from a relatively small studio managed to evoke such an emotionally captivating tale that gripped many gamers by the heart. That said Telltale has had a bunch of experience in its sleeve when it comes to episodic gaming. Sam and Max should definitely ring a bell amidst the more seasoned gamers.
Certainly, The Walking Dead was among most awards and gaming lists from 2012. But it's still surprising that a game with little to no combat and a cellshaded look caused such positive feedback.
Or perhaps more extraordinary is the fact that a zombie game actually managed to do something different in a medium that's bursting to the seams with horror and zombie tropes.
The truth is that The Walking Dead is more like an interactive well-paced story inhabited by fleshed-out characters, than just a game. And one where your actions (and consequences) grip you right in.
